Mission
“The Edison Exploratorium is a prototype for the future of engineering interaction worldwide.”

Two once empty buildings in the heart of downtown Schenectady, the former Gazette Press Building for the collection and storage of artifacts and the adjacent former Skypes Gallery for displays and meetings have been purchased and extensive work done to make them usable. Much has been accomplished but it is only a beginning - in engineering terms “a prototype”.
We envision an Edison Center Complex - the Edison Exploratorium and a Steinmetz Conference Center/Hotel surrounded by an Edison Park featuring an efficient working generating system friendly to the environment using solar, wind and hydro power and possibly dc transmission.
The Edison Exploratorium is a qualified tax exempt organization and has been approved for GE matching funds when contributions of $25 or more are received from GE employees, retirees, or surviving spouses. Contributions in any amount are appreciated and may be made by completing and returning our Membership form.
